Jamie wants to retain the rear-wheel-drive setup and expects the electric version of the Buick to be slightly more powerful than its current configuration, aiming for 200-250 horsepower, a top speed of 80 mph, and a range of 110-130 miles.
Jamie purchased this 1954 Buick Century convertible in 2012. The car is located in Spokane Valley, Washington, and has 76,000 miles on the odometer. It is powered by a 323 cubic inch V8 paired with an automatic transmission and weighs 4,000 lbs.
This rear-wheel-drive convertible maintains factory drum brakes on all four wheels and power steering, but no air conditioning. Recent restorations include a new convertible top, new tires, and wire wheels.
Jamie describes the car as being in very good condition, saying, "Great car. Works well for 71 years of age!" As a Tesla owner, he believes that converting the Buick to electric will bring together the best of both worlds. He is now looking for a shop in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, or California.
Jamie wants to retain the rear-wheel-drive setup and expects the electric version of the Buick to be slightly more powerful than its current configuration, aiming for 200-250 horsepower, a top speed of 80 mph, and a range of 110-130 miles.
He and his son plan to use the car for daily city driving during the summer and charge it at home overnight.
They have no specific preference for motors or battery setups and are open to vendor recommendations, particularly if used EV components are considered in the build.
The conversion must include an electric power window upgrade, and air conditioning should be offered as an optional feature. To maintain the car’s original aesthetic, Jamie and his son prefer to preserve the analog gauges in the dashboard.
No towing requirement.
