1971 Triumph Stag
This 1971 Triumph Stag is powered by a 3.0-liter V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and finished in red over black vinyl.
Hal bought it in May 2024 and transferred it from Canada to Longmont, Colorado. “I bought the car with an eye to converting it”. According to him, the car has no rust and is in very good condition. With 2350 lbs without the engine, this car is the perfect candidate for EV conversion.

Hal bought it in May 2024 and transferred it from Canada to Longmont, Colorado. “I bought the car with an eye to converting it”. According to him, the car has no rust and is in very good condition. With 2350 lbs without the engine, this car is the perfect candidate for EV conversion.
It’s equipped with a body-color removable hardtop, a black convertible top, chrome-finished 14″ wire wheels with knock-off hubs, and chrome bumpers with overriders. It has disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The Tourist Trophy wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 12k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under previous ownership; actual mileage is unknown.
Hal will perform the conversion himself and needs the perfect kit for his dream car to come true. He expects the Triumph to be a bit more powerful than today (The 3.0-liter SOHC V8 was factory rated at 145 horsepower), a top speed of 80 mph, and 100 miles of range.
Hal is open to suggestions for the drivetrain and battery pack but would prefer not to use Tesla components. He will keep all the existing ICE-related parts in case he wants to switch back to gas.
The Triumph is equipped with power steering but Hal is willing to remove it. Regarding gauges and dashboard, Hal is willing to replace them with analog gauges. “I would rather keep the car as original looking as possible”.
After conversion, he will use the Stag daily and will it charge at home overnight.
