1974 BMW 2002 tii

John's goal for the BMW is to have a bit more power than it does today, “ideally keeping the manual transmission to maintain the classic car feel,” though he is open to suggestions. His range requirement is conservative at 70-90 miles and is looking for a top speed around 100 mph.
John bought this 1974 BMW 2002 tii in California in July 2019, then brought it to Florida. It is rear-wheel drive, powered by a 2.0L engine coupled with a 4-speed manual transmission. With a curb weight of 2,315 lbs, this car is very well equipped with AC, disc brakes at the front and rear drum brakes. Speedometer was replaced in 2010 at 95k with a used speedometer showing just under 99k miles.
According to John, the car is in pretty good condition, not perfect due to it living in Miami, Florida, but with some rust in the main chassis area. It’s been covered and parked in a garage on and off between 2022 and now. He had an ongoing amount of maintenance work done by the great folks at 2002 AD who specializes on 2002s and 3.0s. The work was fixing electrical issues with hazard lights and windshield wipers working when they felt like it, repairing some gas leaks, adjusting audio issues with the stereo system, and some dings/scratches, but nothing major. One last upgrade was changing the Bluetooth stereo system faceplate from an older model to something that looks retro.
His goal is for the BMW to have a bit more power than it does today, “ideally keeping the manual transmission to maintain the classic car feel,” though John is open to suggestions. His range requirement is conservative at 70-90 miles and is looking for a top speed around 100 mph. He has no preference for the motor but prefers not to use Tesla battery modules. John will use his BWM during weekends for leisure driving and will charge it overnight.
It’s currently equipped with AC, but with no power steering, or power brakes. John wants these options quoted in the proposal. Analog EV gauges such as Speedhut’s are requested to replace factory instruments.
He will not be involved with the EV conversion and is open to shipping the car cross-country to the right builder.
In addition to the EV conversion, the car has a few exterior imperfections that John would like to have addressed. He invites the interested builders to provide an estimate for a paint job as part of the project.
There are no towing requirements.
