Craig expects between 250hp and 300hp, and the same torque as today. (The 1978 AMC 401 engine produced approximately 430 lb-ft of torque.)He has no preference for the motor or battery and wants to use as many used parts as possible. He is open to suggestions from the converters.

He needs a turn-key conversion as he is not interested in physically participating in the process. Craig is open to shipping the truck cross-country to the right builder.

Currently located in Woodcliff Lake, NJ, Craig bought this 1978 Jeep Wagoneer in 2001. It is in very good condition, runs and drives well, and shows no rust.

The four-wheel drive is powered by a 6.6 liter 401ci AMC V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and a Quadra-Trac four-wheel-drive system. It is equipped with front and rear drum brakes. Standard curb weight is about 4,000 lbs.

The truck is equipped with push button AM/FM radio, air-conditioning with R134a refrigerant conversion and Power steering. Both will require upgrades during its conversion to electric.

With a 3-spoke tilt steering wheel in front, the instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer, ammeter, fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure gauges. The five-digit odometer shows less than 74k miles.

Craig is open to updating the brakes and suspension if necessary for the conversion.

The previous owner repainted the truck in its factory shade of Brilliant Blue and replaced the faux-wood paneling and body seals. The interior and exterior are in good condition and will not require any updates.

After the EV conversion, Craig expects between 250hp and 300hp, and the same torque as today. (The 1978 AMC 401 engine produced approximately 430 lb-ft of torque.)He has no preference for the motor or battery and wants to use as many used parts as possible. He is open to suggestions from the converters.

Craig will drive it daily as the primary driver. His range expectation is between 150 and 170 miles, and he will charge it at home in 4 to 7 hours. He expects a top speed of 80 mph.

Craig would like to keep the Jeep’s interior as close to original as possible. He also wants the tachometer and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure to be removed and replaced by EV analog gauges, with a factory look, otherwise hidden in the glovebox.

He needs a turn-key conversion as he is not interested in physically participating in the process. Craig is open to shipping the truck cross-country to the right builder.

The resale of ICE-related parts is open for discussion between him and the converter.

There are no towing requirements.
