This 68 International Harvester Scout 800 is powered by a Chevy 283 Cubic Inch/230hp coupled with a 4-speed T-90 light duty manual transmission and a curb weight of 3,200 lbs. It is located in Point Richmond, CA.

Mark has realistic expectations for the Scout. He wants the truck to be less powerful than today, with 100-150hp, a top speed of 60 miles per hour, and 140 miles of range.

The Scout belonged to a friend who had it for 30 years. He pulled it apart and got part way through rebuilding it to be a classic. When his friend moved back to Germany, Mark bought it and kept it covered for 5 years on a trailer. The frame and shell are very clean with no rust.

According to Mark “It’s very clean/sound with extensive restoration work on frame and shell. Windows, steering, front dash, all wiring.... I have essentially all the pieces, new wiring harness etc. but that would need to be reinstalled.”

He has been sitting on this project for over a year and wants to move forward.

After EV conversion, Mark and his wife will use it every day in the neighborhood. He would also use it as a driver-training vehicle for his kids. Mark has realistic expectations for the Scout. He wants the truck to be less powerful than today, with 100-150hp, a top speed of 60 miles per hour, and 140 miles of range. AC, power steering, and power brakes will be considered optional. Keeping the manual transmission is optional, and direct drive will be preferred. EV gauges will replace factory gauge configuration. They will charge the car overnight at home.

Upon completion of EV conversion, Mark, would be interested in other improvements such as thin bucket seats for the front, a roll bar to attach three-point safety belts, and electric power windshield washer.
