1987 Alfa Romeo Spider
Proposals received : 4
This 1987 Alfa Romeo Spider Pininfarina is everything we love about Italian roadsters: lightweight, rear-wheel drive, and made to be enjoyed with the top down. With over 100,000 miles on its original 2.0L inline-four engine, this classic has already lived a long, passionate life. Now, it’s ready for its next chapter — a fully electric transformation.
The car runs reliably today thanks to recent maintenance, and its curb weight of around 2,500 lbs makes it an ideal EV donor. Both front and rear brakes are disc, with openness to upgrades if recommended. Suspension and wheel improvements are also on the table.
There is some minor rust reported — expected for an almost-40-year-old Alfa — but nothing that overshadows the potential of this build. The interior is expected to remain as-is, staying true to its vintage charm.

For the electric drivetrain, Mike wants to keep the original character and performance of the Spider. That means similar horsepower and torque, a top speed around 60 mph, and locally-focused driving: weekend cruising and occasional outings rather than long-distance road trips. A practical target range of 70–90 miles and overnight home charging meet his needs perfectly.
While this Spider isn’t equipped with power steering or A/C today, Mike is interested in adding air conditioning during the conversion — a perfect upgrade for Florida weather. And although he won’t be turning the wrenches himself, he’s absolutely ready for premium professional service and has no issue shipping cross-country to the right conversion shop.
Mike already drives a Porsche Taycan and a Range Rover Hybrid — proof he and his wife know the joy of electric mobility. Now, they want to bring that experience to a classic they’ve owned since 2011.
They have a strong preference for repurposed EV components to keep costs optimized and sustainability at the forefront.
