This project features a 1995 AM General Hummer H1 4-door hard top pickup. With a clean foundation, 4WD drivetrain, and a well-maintained history, this build is a great candidate for a high-performance electric transformation.
This 1995 AM General Hummer H1 4-door hard-top pickup is a bold candidate for electrification. Originally diesel-powered and later swapped to a V8 paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, it now shows approximately 110,000 miles. Located in North Canton, Ohio, the truck is in good overall condition, fully operational, rust-free, and largely unmodified, making it an ideal foundation for a complete EV transformation.

The goal is straightforward: to transform this heavy-duty 10,000 lb truck into a powerful, all-electric, all-wheel-drive machine that dramatically exceeds its original performance. The owner, Maxx, is aiming high with a target of 800+ horsepower and 1000 lb-ft of torque, pushing this build into truly extreme territory.
To achieve this, a dual-motor setup is being considered, with one motor on each axle for true AWD capability and maximum traction. The preferred configuration includes Tesla-based components, with a full Tesla Model S battery pack (minimum 85 kWh) to support both performance and range.
Maxx is targeting a top speed of around 90 mph and a range of approximately 200 miles if possible. Fast charging is a key requirement, with a goal of charging from 20% to 90% in under an hour. The vehicle will primarily be used for highway driving, relying on a combination of Level 2 home charging and public fast-charging infrastructure.
As an experienced DIY builder, Maxx plans to take a hands-on approach to the conversion. However, given the complexity of integrating a dual-motor AWD system and a large battery pack, expert support will be essential, particularly for system design, safety, and final integration.
The build will retain and upgrade key features including power steering, air conditioning, and power brakes. Brake upgrades are already planned, while suspension, wheels, and interior improvements remain under consideration.
No towing requirements.
