1. EV Conversion Kit

There are tons of kits on the market, and you can definitely find one that suits your chassis. For the DIYers, you should choose wisely. This kit must match your vehicle perfectly—fitting snug, matching performance needs, and not exceeding the weight capacity of your car.


2. Battery Management System (BMS)

Think of the BMS as the protector of your batteries. It monitors, protects, and balances your battery cells. It ensures each cell is charged and discharged properly. A superior BMS extends your battery pack’s life span and optimizes your vehicle’s performance. It keeps your EV alive and well. It’s essentially life support–without the negative connotation.


3. High-Quality Batteries

Next in the sequence comes the battery. This is usually the most expensive part of your conversion project by a long shot, especially if you’re opting for performance and longevity. Lithium-ion is the gold standard, offering high energy density, lightweight design, and a long life span. However, not every vehicle is equipped for every battery. 4. Electric Motor

6. Charging System

You need a proper charging system. Level 1 chargers are for the patient, using a standard outlet for overnight charging. Level 2 chargers are the high-tech alternative—240 volts of rapid recharging power. They each require your home to be equipped with sufficient voltage and current capabilities, so you should double-check your circuit boards. Pair this with a regenerative braking system to recapture energy on the go. Fast charging capability is also a huge plus – but comes at a premium cost.
