1948 MG TC
This 1948 MG TC is original. The general condition of the car is described by Dennis as “one survivor with lots of patina and almost zero rust”. With a curb weight of 1,900 lbs and a mileage of 22,500 miles only, this TC is the perfect candidate for EV conversion.
This 1948 MG TC is original. Defined as a body-on-frame open two-seater sports car, the TC is the first postwar MG, and was launched in 1945. It is powered by a 1,250 cc (76 cu in) pushrod-OHV engine with a slightly higher compression ratio of 7.4:1 producing 54.5 bhp (40.6 kW) at 5200 rpm, coupled with a manual 4-speed transmission. It is equipped with drum brakes at all four corners, with no heater and no power steering.

Dennis is looking for a shop to perform the EV conversion. He is not interested in doing anything at all besides driving! Ideally, the converter will be in the state of California (home is Sacramento) or neighboring states.
Dennis wants to keep it original, retaining the OEM wheels and tires. The vehicle equipment is very basic with heating but no power steering or AC. Power Steering, AC, disc brakes, and suspension are desirable upgrades for the conversion - Dennis is open to suggestions.
He wants his E-TC to be as powerful as today, with approximately 50hp, 100 Lb-ft of torque and a top speed of 70mph.
He will primarily use his TC during workdays to commute and during weekends for Leisure. He expects a range of 130 miles, charging at home overnight and occasionally at public stations.
For the EV conversion, he would like to incorporate as many used EV parts as possible. All ICE-related parts removed will be available for sale.
