Michael is looking for a turn-key conversion on a 1958 Triumph TR3. He would like to work with a builder that could source the car as well as complete the EV conversion. And yes, finding a converted, running and street-licensed example would be a BIG win as the goal of this project is the running car/driving experience - not at all a Hobby-Project for something to do over time.

He's very nostalgic about that model, and as a result, he dreams of owning a very clean, simple TR3 EV to drive for fun on weekends in good weather. He has a preference for 3A ‘large mouth’ and also for disc brakes, but retaining wire wheels over alloys of any kind.

These TR3s were all equipped with a 4-speed transmission and many with electric overdrives. Michael enjoys the manual shifting experience and, all other things being equal would enjoy the EV version of that. But he also knows the advantages of direct drive: higher performance, fewer moving parts, lower maintenance and lighter.

Michael wants the TR3 to be more potent than its factory version with 150-200hp, a top speed of 100 mph, and a range of 110-130 miles. He would like to charge the car within a few hours at home and public charging stations when he is out and about.

He will consider all options such as low-voltage Netgain Hyper9 coupled with the manual transmission to a high-voltage direct drive Tesla setup. He’s open to all proposals, keeping in mind that this will be a weekend car, not a performance or car show.

Michael wants a clean original TR3 with EV drivetrain and not an all out restomod with oversized tires, elaborate infotainment, touch panels, or extreme chassis/suspension mods. A clean set of Retro-looking dash gauges plus anything digital in the glovebox would best fit the goals – so it looks and feels as OEM as reasonably possible.

Power Steering, Power Brakes, Heater, and AC Options will be considered options and are all of the interest. No towing requirements.
