1992 Honda Accord LX Wagon
This 92 Honda Accord Wagon was bought new by Ian’s Dad and handed down to Ian in 2000. It is a front-wheel drive, inline four-cylinder, 140 hp @ 5,600 rpm, 142 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm with a curb weight of 3,373 lbs.
He would like the OEM equivalent of EV horsepower and torque with a conservative range of 70-90 miles. The top speed would be around 70 mph. He will not be involved with the EV conversion and is willing to ship the car, preferably to neighboring states from California.

With 314,000 miles, the engine is burning oil, and the radiator is leaking. In addition, one of the front struts is damaged from hitting a pothole. However, the body and interior are in good condition, with no rust.
The transmission is a 5-speed manual but may be tired and would consider direct drive.
The Accord has AC and power steering, and he would like to have those features in conversion. A manual or power parking brake would be fine.
Ian is flexible with his goals for the car but would like to get started and complete the project in about three months or as soon as possible. He will not be involved with the EV conversion and is willing to ship the car, preferably to neighboring states from California.
He would like the OEM equivalent of EV horsepower and torque with a conservative range of 70-90 miles. The top speed would be around 70 mph. Ian could participate with some little modifications and would like EV training.
EV gauges can replace factory gauge configuration with Battery Management System (BMS) remote-mounted.
Ian will need a home charging station that will charge the car in a few hours or as quickly as possible.
Moderately used EV parts are acceptable. Due to the current mileage, suspension work will definitely be needed. The vehicle is equipped with airbags, so accommodations will need to be made for that.
All removed OEM parts will likely be scrapped due to age and current mileage.
There are no towing requirements.
