This 1996 Daihatsu Midget II is powered by a 659 cm3 or 40.2 cu-in engine (31hp) coupled with a Manual 4-speed transmission.
With a curb weight of 1,247 lbs, the Midget is perfect for EV conversion. Daniel wants the Midget to be a bit more powerful than today, with a top speed of 50mph and 50-70 miles of range.
This 1996 Daihatsu Midget II is powered by a 659 cm3 or 40.2 cu-in engine (31hp) coupled with a Manual 4-speed transmission.
The previous owner imported it around 2019/2020 before Daniel bought it in Guam in 2021. He recently cleaned up the engine and other parts and painted it. According to him, the general state of the Midget is Good. It runs well but has some squeaky noises.
With a curb weight of 1,247 lbs, the Midget is perfect for EV conversion, and Daniel is very interested in making a unique EV!
Now, Daniel needs the perfect EV setup for such a unique car. He is looking for parts and support.
He is open to direct drive for this conversion as it would save weight, but he will stick with manual transmission otherwise. He wants the Midget to be a bit more powerful than today, with a top speed of 50mph and 50-70 miles of range.
He will charge it from home overnight and will use it daily for city rides. Finally, both AC and power steering must be retained and upgraded for conversion. There are no towing requirements.
Daniel wants to use as many used EV parts as possible.
